Pearl — Terms of Service

Welcome to Pearl — a book of remembrance for Christians. These Terms are the agreement between you and Ascher Studios LLC (Missouri, USA) ("we", "us") for your use of the Pearl app. By creating an account or using Pearl, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

Plain-language summary. Pearl is free and yours. Your content belongs to you, not us. Be the only one using your account, don't misuse the service, and remember Pearl is a tool for reflection — not professional, medical, or pastoral advice. You can leave any time and take your account with you.

The service

Pearl is a private place to capture and revisit the things you want to remember in your spiritual life — notes, prayers, scripture, people you carry, intentions, and reflections. Pearl is free, and all of its core features are available to everyone. If we ever offer a paid membership, it is support for the work, not a gate on access — membership never locks features behind a paywall.

We may add, change, or remove features over time. We'll try to make changes for the better, and to give notice of significant ones.

Your account

You need an account to use Pearl. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for activity that happens under it. Accounts are for a single person — please don't share yours. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to use Pearl.

Your content is yours

Everything you put into Pearl — your captures, prayers, reflections, photos, and voice memos — belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of it.

You grant us only the limited permission we need to operate the app for you: to store your text content, sync it across your devices, and display it back to you. That permission ends when you delete your content or your account. As our Privacy Policy explains, your photos and voice memos stay on your device and are never uploaded to us, and we will never sell your content or train AI models on it. You are responsible for the content you create and for having the right to store it.

Acceptable use

Please use Pearl for its purpose — your own remembrance and reflection. Don't use it to break the law, to infringe others' rights, to store or distribute malicious or unlawful material, or to attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' data.

Membership and payments

If you choose to support Pearl through a membership, payments are processed by the app store you installed Pearl from (for example, Apple's App Store) under that store's terms — we do not handle your card details. Membership is voluntary support; pricing and renewal terms are shown at the point of purchase, and you can manage or cancel through your app store account. Because membership is support and not access, ending it never removes your content or features.

Ending your use

You can stop using Pearl and delete your account at any time from within the app (You → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your account and content from our systems, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or end access to an account that misuses the service, violates these Terms, or where we're required to by law. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll give notice.

Disclaimers

Pearl is a tool for personal reflection and remembrance. It is not professional, medical, psychological, legal, or pastoral advice, and it is not a substitute for the counsel of a qualified person or your faith community. Scripture text is provided through third parties (such as the ESV API from Crossway) under their terms.

Pearl is provided "as is" and "as available." While we work hard to keep your content safe and the service running, we can't guarantee it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data loss will never occur — so please keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ascher Studios LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Pearl. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app. Continuing to use Pearl after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
